Youth Summit in İstanbul

Hundreds of young people gathered in İstanbul at a Youth Summit organised by World Academy of Local Administration and Democracy Foundation (WALD) and the Intercultural Communication and Leadership School as part of the Collaboration for Participation of Youth Project.

The summit started with the opening speeches of Ambassador Volkan Bozkır, Minister for European Union Affairs and Chief Negotiator and of Kadir Topbaş Metropolitan Mayor of İstanbul. Through the speeches they have emphasied the role of young people in EU-Turkey relations.

Minister Bozkır, in his opening speech stated “ Our membership to EU target is the most important modernisation Project of our country after the estabslishment of the Republic. We can reach this target only with a strong, active and participatory çivil society. Fort his reason we place great importance to çivil society as a Ministry.

The summit continued with “Participation of Youth to Democratisation Process Panel and with presentations of different çivil society organisations.
